Festival goers came out in droves to the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival, Saturday.
The sun was shining, and the crowds came.
The 46th annual Elmira Maple Syrup Festival saw thousands of area residents flock to town, taking in everything from pickle-on-a-stick to the popular Mega Mutts show, held for the first time at the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena.
Politicians were also in attendance, with Kitchener-Conestoga MP Harold Albrecht serving host to Minister of State Rob Moore, who had his first introduction to Elmira as part of the pancake flipping team.
This year’s festival was an improvement over last year’s event, which saw high winds and driving rain, making it difficult for both vendors and visitors.
Next year’s Elmira Maple Syrup Festival is set for April 2, 2011.
