Agreement reached
The agreement between the Region of Waterloo and CUPE Local 1656, representing the Region of Waterloo’s outside workers has received ratification.The agreement, which provides wage increases of two per cent for 2010, and 2.25 per cent each in 2011 and 2012, includes regional workers involved in waste management, airport operations, and rural road maintenance.
Bus route to change for Maple Syrup Festival
Grand River Transit is working on a revised bus route for March 27.That’s the day that the streets of Elmira will be overwhelmed by tourists and locals celebrating the annual Elmira Maple Syrup Festival.
“We don’t have finalized plan, but it’s almost there,” said Neil Malcolm, a planner with the region, last week.
Maple Syrup Festival road closures
It’s just a few short weeks until the annual rite of spring known as the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival, which means Woolwich Township has once again approved road closures for the day.The streets affected will include Hampton, Wyatt, James, Park, South, Walker, Dunke and Mill, portions of which will be closed on Saturday, March 27, from 1 a.m. to 8 p.m.
