There are still very few candidates for the upcoming municipal election, both for Woolwich and Wellesley Townships.
So far, four candidates have filed nomination papers for Woolwich Township – incumbents Mark Bauman and Murray Martin, representing Wards 2 and 3 respectively, newcomer Jim David, for Ward 1, and Bill Strauss, who is seeking re-election as mayor.
In Wellesley Township, three incumbents are running again: mayor Ross Kelterborn, Ward 3 councillor Jim Olender, and Ward 4 councillor Paul Hergott.
Regionally, no candidates have come forward for the position of regional chairman.
Candidates have until Sept. 10, 2010 to file nomination papers for the election, which will take place on Monday, Oct. 25.
