Story behind Gone with the Wind subject of new ETC production
Elmira Theatre Company continues its 29th season of comedy this month with a production of Moonlight & Magnolias.
The play, which appeared on Broadway in 2005, is about the time-crunched process of writing the screenplay for what’s often considered to be the greatest movie of all time.
“I guess I’m a diehard Gone With The Wind fan. I have been since I was young,” says director Sue Jennings. “When I heard about this play and then read it, I figured one day I’ve got to direct this play.”
Fundraiser for child with cancer
A fundraiser is being planned in the village of St. Jacobs for a young boy who is fighting leukemia.Jon Marc Snider is three years old, and has been fighting the disease since last August.
The fundraiser, planned for the St. Jacobs fire station, will include carnival games, a bake sale and a silent auction.

Whether on an icy rural road in January or a dark and rainy July evening on the 401, vehicle operators always face the possibility of spinning out or suffering a collision — and being seriously injured in the process.With the knowledge that accident victims face a limited time span before being seriously affected by their injuries, the Elmira Fire Department recently purchased a heavy hydraulic rescue mechanism known as the Jaws of Life.
