Conestogo school to get crossing guard
Parents and teachers at Conestogo public school are breathing a sigh of relief, after learning that Woolwich Township will be hiring a crossing guard.However, the approval of the $3,775 expense does not come without conditions.
Township staff, concerned about the previous difficulty they have had in staffing the crossing guard job, have asked that the new position be a temporary one, to be reevaluated at the end of the school season.
Cultural heritage landscape study moves ahead
Woolwich councillors have endorsed the launch of a study that will determine, once and for all, whether West Montrose qualifies as a Cultural Heritage Landscape.Two previous studies have indicated that West Montrose, and its famous covered bridge, may qualify for the designation, a relatively new one in the province of Ontario.
The township’s decision to study the issue comes in the face of opposition from many West Montrose residents, who fear loss of control over their own properties.
