Kings stop winless skid

The Elmira Sugar Kings put an end to lengthy losing streak with an one of their biggest offensive outbursts of the season.
The Kings pummeled the Listowel Cyclones 8-2 on home ice, Sunday, to earn their first victory since Nov. 29.
Elmira jumped out to a 2-0 lead and had a four-goal lead heading into the third period in the lopsided win.
Jarred Parent had a team-high four points (1 goal, 3 assists), while Michael Therrien scored twice and had an assist. Jake Jefferies, Josh Woolley, Tyson LeBlanc, Zach Saloman and Andrew Smith also scored. Jon Jutzi (2), Woolley (2), Spencer MacCormack (2), Lukas Baleshta, Brennon Pearce, Kody Ellis, Brad Kraus, Smith and Salomon also had helpers.
Dawson Smith and Dan Mohle scored for Listowel, which had a five-game win streak snapped.
Shots on goal were 37 apiece.
Saturday, after a winless December, the Kings skid extended to seven games with a 7-4 loss at Cambridge.
The Kings started the game, their first of the new year, on the right foot, jumping out to a 3-1 lead mid-way through the second period. But the Winter Hawks out scored Elmira 6-1 the rest of the way to earn the victory.
Scoring for the Kings were Jefferies, Therrien, Riley Sonnenburg and Kraus. Parent (2), Woolley, Salomon and  MacCormack had assists.
Mike Sones, Matt Reis and Matt Amadio each scored twice for Cambridge, while Ryan Clarke added a goal.
The Winter Hawks out shot Elmira 37-31.
Next action for the Kings (12-17-4) is back at Cambridge Saturday, then
on home ice Sunday against Stratford
at 2 p.m.
