The Region of Waterloo is now offering seasonal influenza vaccine clinics, at a number of locations around the Region.
These clinics will also offer the H1N1 vaccine.
“Demand for the H1N1 immunization remains healthy in our community,” said Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Associate Medical Officer of Health for Waterloo Region, in a press release, “so we’ve added an additional H1N1 clinic to our schedule on Dec. 8, in Cambridge.”
Beginning with the Dec. 9 clinic in Elmira today, residents will be able to be immunized for both the H1N1 and seasonal flu at the community clinics.
“We’re transitioning to our seasonal flu clinics, but the H1N1 immunization will continue to be available at our clinics. The province has also given permission to workplaces to begin offering both seasonal and H1N1 immunizations to their employees starting next week, so that will give people another option for receiving their immunization.”
Today, Elmira and area residents can get vaccinated at Elmira District Secondary School, from 2 to 8 p.m.
Additional clinics include one on Dec. 10, at Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex, from 2 to 8 p.m., and one on Dec. 15, at Forest Heights Collegiate Institute, also from 2 to 8 p.m.
The public is asked to call the health unit’s automated clinic phone line at 519-883-2324 for upcoming clinic dates. For general information about H1N1, the public can call 519-883-2289 or visit the Waterloo Region Pandemic website at www.waterlooregionpandemic.ca.
