Floradale 5
Community 4
In a rematch from last year’s finals, Community met Floradale in the early game. Community rushed out to a 3-0 lead before the first period was even over on goals by Mike Martin, Joe Clemmer, and Gerald Martin, but Floradale’s Willis Martin and Brendon Jefferson took back two of those goals in the second. Justin Yutzy restored the two-goal lead in the third, but a pair of goals by Dan Martin, and a single by the slumping Josh Brohman gave Floradale the win.
Listowel 7
Bethel 5
The theme of this night was offence, and the middle game was the highest scoring of them all.
The game started out as a defensive gem, with no goals in the first period. The teams then exploded to combine for a whopping 12 goals in the last 2 periods with Listowel coming out on top 7-5.
Dennis Carter and Dave Stewart each got hat tricks, and combined with Ted Albrecht to get all 7 goals, and 14 points. Nathan Morwood also added a pair of assists.
On the other end of the spectrum, all of Bethel’s goals came from different players and 12 different players recorded points. Even goaltender Derek Wideman made it onto the scoresheet with an assist. Goals were recorded by Brandon Shoemaker, Russ Shouldice, Matt Smith, Scott Martin, and Tim Bauman.
Missionary 5
Drayton 5
After the first two games combined for 21 goals, the four fans in attendance for the late game knew they’d be in for a treat. On goals by Dennis Gleeson, Mark Glazema and Cody Gleeson, Missionary was ahead 3-2 after one period of action. Pat Landman and Robin Curry responded for Drayton. The second period produced no scoring. Missionary scored twice early in the third to give them a 5-2 advantage on another goal by Cody Gleeson and Dave Scholten, but Drayton wouldn’t give up. Pat Landman and Nick Stevens struck 19 seconds apart, and a couple minutes later, Landman scored the tying goal.
