JUNIOR HOCKEY - Kings host pair of games this weekend

The Elmira Sugar Kings are back in action this weekend after a 10-day layoff.

Elmira hosts Waterloo on Saturday, then Brantford the following night. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Elmira extended its win streak to three games with a 4-2 victory at Kitchener. The Sugar Kings snapped a 2-2 tie with a pair of third-period goals to defeat the Dutchmen.

Jarred Parent and Jon Jutzi scored less than two minutes apart early in the third period.

Elmira had built up a 2-0 lead 1:07 into the second on power-play goals by Michael Therrien and Andrew Smith.

Kitchener rallied to tie the game before the end of the period, with a pair of power-play goals of their own.

Mark Scheifele and Shawn Bechtloff were the Kitchener goal scorers.

Ryan Johnston (2), Tyson LeBlanc (2), Jake Jefferies, Riley Sonnenburg, Smith and Parent had assist for the Sugar Kings, while goaltender Nick Horrigan stopped 28 of 30 shots.
