She left behind two young sons and a fiancé, and now the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is giving the community a chance to show their support for the family.
A barbecue fundraiser in memory of Tiffany Hanna, one of the helicopter instructors from Great Lakes Helicopter and the victim of the fatal helicopter crash last November, will be held at the WWFC (located at the Region of Waterloo International Airport) on Thursday, Jan. 12 (today) from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Hanna’s energy and love of flying was said to be contagious. Maureen Dennie, customer service and communications of WWFC, remembers her as a friendly coworker and overall a great person to work with.
“She was always very positive and definitely knew her job. You could tell she was crazy about flying,” she said. “She also had a great sense of humor and was very witty.”
Dennie encourages people to make an appearance at the fundraiser and give donations.
“Every penny that’s being donated will go towards her children,” she said. “Everything has been donated, from the napkins to the food and drinks and equipment. Every last penny will go towards the fund.”
For a $10 donation, you can enjoy a burger or hot dog, beverage and snack, and share your memories, with all of the money helping to reach the goal of $10,000.
The barbecue is open for the public to attend to help celebrate the memory of the woman, mother and pilot.
If you are unable to come for lunch or would like to make a larger contribution, donations can be made directly to the fund in Hanna’s name at any TD bank. Deposits can be made to Branch #2752, Account #6343014. For more information, call Maureen Dennie at 519-648-2213 ext. 114 or email her at mdennie@wwflightcentre.com
