Drama students at Elmira District Secondary School have been working on magic tricks that they will be presenting to the public this week.
A class of Grade 11 students has studied magic as part of their drama class unit.
“They’ve put together a show that they’re going to share with the public,” said co-op teacher Christine Brown.
Brown indicated that studying magic in high school is unique.
“It’s a lot of fun,” she said. “They really enjoy it, and it’s something really different. Not a lot of high schools have the opportunity to do it, so it’s great that they have the chance.”
Brown said a variety of tricks will be performed.
“There are different types of tricks, like coin tricks, card tricks and bigger illusions,” she said.
Drama teacher DJ Carroll indicated students take part in the show as part of their final exam. Prior to the evening performance, students also perform their tricks for children from John Mahood Public School.
Carroll said the class has been offered to students the past couple years.
The show goes tomorrow night (Friday, Jan. 20) at 7 p.m. in the EDSS drama room.
There is no cost to attend, and the show is suitable for all ages.
